SUMMARY:

California Bountiful is the weekly TV show produced by California Farm Bureau that connects viewers with the food they eat, the farmers and ranchers who grow and raise it, and the lifestyles that make California bountiful.  The show serves viewers weekly in the top media markets in California and is seen nationally via syndication.  

JOB DESCRIPTION:

California Farm Bureau seeks a creative, enterprising, and dynamic producer/host for its signature TV program, California Bountiful, and its accompanying website and social media channels.  The ideal candidate will be a natural storyteller who is able to write and share information about California agriculture and its bounty in a passionate and engaging manner, with personality, energy, and integrity.  You will be part of a communications team where you can use your creativity to help further shape the brand of a beloved TV show and social channels, helping to carry out California Farm Bureau’s vision of protecting California’s diverse farming and ranching legacy and enabling the whole agriculture community to thrive.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Research, produce, write and host a regular weekly TV show including the planning of shoot schedules and locations
  • Write web stories and social media engagement for shows and interviews you produce
  • Engage with the online audience through social media and produce innovative digital content including videos and podcasts
  • Write weekly Bountiful email newsletter
  • Oversee uploading of show and traffic schedule to various channels including digital delivery company and Bountiful website
  • Analyze monthly ratings for reporting purposes including board reports
  • Oversee media buys, contract negotiations and annual budgeting process
  • Produce promos for affiliates
  • Work with the Meetings & Events team to help plan and produce videos for CAFB’s signature Annual Meeting
  • Back up for Media Calls and Media Training for county farm bureau’s
  • Other duties as assigned.

  EXPERIENCE:

  • BA degree in Communications, Journalism or related field
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of on-air television and producing experience
  • Demonstrated ability as a host/producer/interviewer
  • Working knowledge of social media channels and content creation for social
  • Demonstrated ability to tell stories creatively through video.
  • Knowledge of broadcast standards (audio, coloring, etc.)
  • Experience working with CMS for online multimedia content
  • Basic HTML knowledge
  • Basic Photo editing experience with Photoshop
  • Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills
  • Expertise with the full Adobe Creative Cloud and Vimeo
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365
  • Experience and knowledge of California agriculture a plus

  • Proven intellectual curiosity, creativity, reliability, and rigor
  • Highly organized and able to balance multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Superior organizational skills, especially with large volumes of digital visual content such as video, photographs, graphic and music assets.
  • Ability to travel 40%, as well as work flexible hours when needed.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be able to exercise creative judgment with minimal instruction according to broadcast production standards
  • New media and podcasting experience/knowledge a plus
