Nursery Manager

C&M Nursery, propagators of container grown citrus and avocado trees, is now hiring a nursery manager/grower for our wholesale nursery.  C&M is noted for its quality and service throughout its 50-year history for both garden centers and orchards.    The nursery consists of 126,000 square feet of greenhouses/cold frames and 15 acres outdoor growing grounds.

Job duties include supervision of all aspects of propagating citrus and avocado trees from seed, grafting through the finished and shipped product.  In charge of nursery pest control.  Responsible for good work habits of crew and safe working environment. Interact with government agricultural inspectors and maintain applicable government records and requirements.   Ordering of nursery supplies.  Oversee the repairs and maintenance program for greenhouse and nursery equipment.  Implement the loading of nursery stock for shipment to customers.

Four-year horticulture or agriculture degree with multiple years of nursery managerial experience.  Have and maintain a private applicator pest control certificate with the state of California.   Ability to lift and move container trees and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.   Able to work outside and inside the greenhouse and be exposed to all weather conditions.  Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.  English and Spanish speaking a plus.  Strong organizational and communication skills.
