Tractor Department Manager

Whom the role holds responsibility over/is accountable for:
- Tractor Department, including shop(s)
Responsibilities:
- The Tractor Department Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day scheduling and operation of the tractor department and shop(s) and will be accountable for the department’s performance
Accountabilities:
- Effective and efficient scheduling and management of tractor work, tractor drivers, and shop personnel, with proper prioritization according to seasonality, crop health, rotational considerations, organic vs. conventional land, etc.
- Ensuring proper calibration and application of agricultural chemicals and fertilizers
- Effective and efficient scheduling and oversight of repair and maintenance (including overseeing and replacing parts inventories, tools, etc.) for all departmental equipment
- Ensuring fuel and oil supplies at various locations across company properties are adequately, efficiently, and safely maintained
- Will provide replacement options for capital improvements and new capital investments specific to the tractor department, in the context of planning and budgeting, and kept informed through the processes of procurement and deployment

- GPS systems experience
- Parts inventory and/or procurement experience
- Understanding of, and experience with tractor operation, tillage functions, welding, and mechanical applications for agricultural machinery
Requirements:
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) required
- High school diploma or equivalent required, college degrees and/or professional certifications a plus
- Five years of experience with progressively higher levels of management accountability required
- Some overtime, including weekends and especially during peak seasonal periods may be required
- Some after-hours phone calls and email activity
- Experience collaborating across multiple departments (Farming, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Production, Admin)
Physical Demands:
- The ability to walk and/or stand for several minutes and the ability to lift objects weighing less than fifty (50) pounds is required on occasion. On rare occasions, the role may be required to lift and/or move objects weighing more than fifty (50) pounds
- Some travel, especially same day commuting around company’s properties, and some multi-day travel assignments to include overnight stays at company’s expense will be required
