COMPANY OVERVIEW

Danna Farms, Inc., located in Plumas Lake, CA, is searching for a full-time Farm Manager. Danna Farms, Inc. is a 4th generation family owned and operated farming company which farms over 5,000 acres in Yuba and Sutter Counties (Northern California) primarily specializing in Almonds, Walnuts, Prunes and Melons.  The company manages farming operations on its own crops and provides farm management and custom farming services.  This Farm Manager will be a hands-on contributor, an integral part of the operation, and will report directly to the Owners.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Farm Manager at Danna Farms holds a pivotal role, working in all aspects of the internal and custom farming operations, budgeting, invoicing and ensuring profitability. This leadership position involves overseeing cultural practices including pruning, tillage, planting, pest control, fertilization, and irrigation management in all aspects of the business. This dynamic role requires a blend of managerial, operational, and agricultural expertise.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Direct and coordinate field worker activities.
  • Review timecards for accurate reporting.
  • Maintain seamless communication between the field and accounting department.
  • Analyze costs and ensure amounts being charged to customers are appropriate.
  • Review budgets created by the accounting department for custom farming and add input as needed.
  • Review monthly custom farming invoices for accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor crop quality, weather implications, and develop contingency plans as needed.
  • Adhere to budgeting and invoicing deadlines.
  • Assist with the management of general upkeep of all locations and properties.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or 5-10 years of current experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Three to five years of hands-on farming experience, including staff management and crop production.
  • Ability to lead projects and work well in collaboration with others.
  • Willingness to work weekend and evening hours, as needed.
  • Willingness to travel for farm-related activities.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Proven track record of being safe, dependable and reliable.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Helpful and positive attitude.

Plus:

  • Private Applicator License.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.

SCHEDULE

This is a full time, year-round management position with an average 40-hour work week that fluctuates to 50 to 60 hours from April to November, depending on crop demands. Qualified applicants must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed. Work will be indoor, outdoor and around commercial agriculture equipment and machinery.
