We are seeking a dedicated and experienced candidate to oversee and manage daily operations on a large mushroom farm. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in the mushroom industry, with experience working with various departments including growing, harvesting, warehousing, packaging and shipping product.

The Operations Manager position will require the candidate to manage & lead teams across different departments, fostering a collaborative work environment, and ensuring staff members are motivated and productive. In particular, this position will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating between teams at the growing/harvesting level with teams at the warehouse/shipping level to ensure operations are being carried out in an efficient manner in accordance with shifting market demands. This will require the candidate to work closely with the general manager at the work site in California while communicating daily with head office personnel based in British Columbia, Canada.

Success in this role will require the candidate to take a proactive role in understanding the daily operations of the business and a willingness to develop and implement new practices to achieve better results. We are looking for a candidate who is eager to demonstrate their potential and grow with the business.

Compensation/Salary: Negotiable but competitive with industry standards

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of management in the produce industry. Preference for candidates with experience at all levels of the mushroom industry including farming, warehousing, and logistics
  • Experience with food safety standards and vendor audit programs
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Required

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Responsible for overseeing harvesting, packing and shipping of mushrooms to ensure efficiency and effective management of resources.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy, including daily and weekly inventory counts.
  • Manage harvesting/packing employees’ schedules. Supervise, coordinate and evaluate line supervisors.
  • Fosters a culture of appreciation and team work, coaches and motivates team.
  • Communicates production requirements daily and ensures goals are achieved.
  • Recommend improvements to work methods or procedures and implement approved changes. Consults with others in management team.
  • Use problem solving skills and root cause analysis to resolve and/or migrate operational issues.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma required
