Position Summary

California Olive Ranch, Inc. (COR) is seeking an enthusiastic agriculture experienced Agronomy Intern to join and aid our agriculture department. California Olive Ranch is the industry leader in Super High-Density olives for Olive Oil production. The agronomy intern will be asked to perform agronomic tasks and test around the farms in a demanding environment. Thus, being a team member and having strong verbal communication skills are essential for this internship role. This internship is a great opportunity for a student currently enrolled in a college/university seeking a degree in any agriculture field.

Essential Functions

  • Shall comply with the regulations as outlined in the corporate Document Control Policy.
  • Shall dress and behave in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), when applicable.
  • Assist in monthly fertilizer and pesticide inventory verification.
  • Analysis of agronomic data.
  • Data collection.
  • Scouting of field and performing irrigation tests.
  • Aid in harvest operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills 

  • Ability to read and understand company policies and procedures and implement them appropriately.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to read and write the English language.
  • Ability to write and speak Spanish preferably.
  • Manage details of multiple projects in an efficient and organized method.
  • Agriculture machinery experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a college or university.
  • Ability to work varying hours, schedules, and weekends.
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Basic knowledge of Office 365.

Physical Demands

Must possess mobility to work in a food manufacturing facility vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. This is a primary food manufacturing facility classification, commonly standing in work areas. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard, or calculator. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. This position requires standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Working Conditions

Ability to work in high, low-temperature, and rainy weather conditions while performing field tasks. As well as able to drive long hours while visiting fields and work out from a company vehicle.
