Rancho Guadalupe is a family-owned grower of fresh produce

The Strawberry Production Manager is responsible for supervising multiple aspects of strawberry production. Responsibilities include but not limited to supervision of the bed up and planting, fertilizer and pesticide applications, and irrigation management.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Disease and pest management: Ability to identify common pests and diseases
  • Ranch preparation, which includes ground preparation, bed up, fumigation, irrigation installation, and planting
  • Assure timely applications of fertilizers and pesticides (spraying)
  • Work with PCA’s/agronomist to organize and execute pesticide applications.
  • Ability to work with production/harvesting crews to determine quality controls.
  • Provides direction, leadership development and support to direct reports though on-the-job assignments.
  • Responsible for managing the berry maintenance staff and equipment.
  • Work/Communicate with Harvest Supervisors to organize non-harvest labor such as: weeding, cutting runners, cultivating, overall plant maintenance.
  • Track and analyze efficiencies of all non-harvest activities.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures, safety standards and sanitation practices.

The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; climb stairs; talk and listen for large amounts of time. The employee must occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 50 lbs.

Travel is primarily local during the business day.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

At least 5 years’ experience in production agriculture.

PCA License desired but not required

Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills required.

Bilingual English/Spanish

Proficient computer knowledge, experience with MS Office, outlook, and typing.

Class C driver’s license and insurable

Skilled in ground preparation

Excellent organizational/planning and scheduling abilities.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural degree preferred or something related and/ or at least 2+ years’ experience and a proven track record with strawberries

Salary Range: $70,000 – DOE
