The San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation (SJFB)  has been serving agriculture in this region since 1914. The Farm Bureau is a nonprofit membership organization representing nearly 2,000 members on issues that affect the premiere agricultural industry and the rural communities that make up San Joaquin County. The San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation is currently soliciting applications for qualified individuals to fill the vacant position of Executive Director.

Position Description:

SJFB is seeking to hire an Executive Director of our organization based at our office in Stockton. This person would report directly to the Board of Directors. As the Executive Director, you will have direct responsibilities to the board and management of our team of employees at SJFB.

An ideal candidate would have knowledge of Farm Bureau. Multiple development opportunities await the right candidate in working with members of all the organizations, planning various events and handling duties listed.


  • Management of Farm Bureau office
  • Direct authority and supervision of employees
  • Maintain employee records and all related compliance needs
  • Manage SEP IRA retirement plans for all qualified employees
  • Work with local, state and federal Government Agencies that affect the viability of the Agriculture industry in San Joaquin County.
  • Evaluate all San Joaquin Farm Bureau income and expense
  • Plan and review budgets, financials and fiduciary responsibilities for SJFB on a timely manner
  • Direct handling of receipts and disbursements
  • Organize office procedures and routine work
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with other Ag organizations
  • Maintain good working relationships with affiliated organizations (i.e. Nationwide, American AgCredit, Sanborn Chevrolet etc.)
  • Assist members with Regulatory issues
  • Handle and coordinate with the media
  • Provide other services as requested by the Board of Directors to assure the efficient and effective operation of the San Joaquin Farm Bureau.


    • Keep Executive Committee Minutes and committee notes
    • Maintain compliance with all aspects of employees and place of business
    • Help to manage regular events and programs
    • Maintain membership records.

Public and Political Relations:

    • Develop active relationships with County Government, elected state and national representatives, government agencies dealing with agriculture
    • Organize meetings with elected officials
    • Represent SJFB on all issues and policies in public forums
    • Develop and provide to the Board of Directors factual information that the board can make informative decisions based upon
    • Regularly communicate and track issues as they arise with the California Farm Bureau
    • Answer calls and assist members as required


  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and databases
  • Excellent skills in communication: Both written and oral
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and setting
  • Detail oriented and strong organization skills
  • Able to manage their time in a productive manner
  • Passion for agriculture and working with the agriculture community
