General Purpose and Scope of Position:
The Technical Services Specialist works closely with District Field Technology Specialist, local Sales teams, and Growers to support the use and adoption of regional customer technical service tools within the Digital Ecosystem. This is a key role in the Digital Technology/ Precision Ag segment for Wilbur Ellis.
Key Skills and Abilities Include:
- Required: BS in Agriculture Business or related studies or related experience
- Requires excellent interpersonal skills between both customers and fellow employees
- Proficient with computers utilizing Microsoft Windows, Windows applications
- Understanding of production Ag cycles and systems in regard to Nutrition, Fertility, and Irrigation Water Management
- Proficient or become proficient in Ag GIS software utilization: Ag Verdict, SMS, QGIS, etc.
- Ability to create relevant content and present it to large groups using PPT, Canva, Prezi, etc.
- Ability to adapt and evolve with the market demands
- May require occasional overnight travel
Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:
- Support Area Management, Field Sales, and Customers in the use of software and hardware associated with South San Joaquin Valley Digital Technology business offering
- Develop and deliver relevant technology training to Field Sales and Customers as needed
- Communicate and support the technology equipment standards throughout the Area
- Installation, calibration, maintenance, and training of irrigation management equipment in the field
- Act as a resource for digital technology within the Area through constant communication with Field Sales and the Field Technology Specialist
- Actively engage in hands-on use of equipment to demonstrate understanding and mastery of technology offerings
- Gather feedback from the field on current tech offerings and offer suggestions on possible new solutions or improvements
- Support customers and field sales with the introduction of new Irrigation management tools including but not limited to; Probe Schedule Software, soil moisture monitoring equipment, pressure bomb/irrigation scheduling business, Soil Optix/Veris soil mapping solutions
Compensation and Benefits:

- In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $68,800 to $85,900. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
