The following is a list of key duties and responsibilities. This is not a comprehensive list, and can be added to, deleted from, at any time by the Executive Director (ED).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. In conjunction with other staff members, answer all incoming phone calls in a timely, professional manner and assist with their requests as appropriate. Direct calls to the appropriate staff member and take messages as necessary. Greet visitors in a courteous, professional manner and promptly assist with their requests as appropriate.
  2. In charge of ordering putting away supplies.
  3. In charge of setting up board room for meetings, keeping board room, supply room and back room in order.
  4. Implement YCFB’s day-to-day operations under the guidance of the ED.
  5. Provide administrative support to the ED, and, at the ED’s direction, to the Board and committees. This involves handling general office responsibilities; clerical duties; data entry; generating correspondence; maintaining correspondence files; maintaining meeting binders; taking minutes for meetings; handling incoming mail and distributing it to the appropriate party; generating needed reports; etc.
  6. Responsible for preparing and maintaining the organization’s bookkeeping and monthly financial records.
  7. Operate the Ag Education Program Workshops, Seminars and Events – organize and conduct trainings, seminars and meetings.
  8. Coordinate and participate in staff meetings, planning sessions and development opportunities.
  9. Develop articles and information to distribute in YCFB’s weekly e-newsletter.
  10. Develop articles and information for YCFB’s monthly publication, Agri-News, and annual Business Member Directory.
  11. Oversee and contribute to YCFB’s social media platforms to ensure they are updated on a regular basis with information approved by the ED.
  12. Ensure the YCFB website is updated on a regular basis with information approved by the ED.
  13. Promote the value of agriculture to Valley residents by identifying and writing important stories and information to disseminate to appropriate sources.
  14. Coordinate membership efforts and administration with the California Farm Bureau.
  15. Oversee YCFB membership data, making sure information is accurate and accessible for organization’s use.
  16. Oversee an annual membership retention program.
  17. Coordinate an annual campaign for new members.
  18. Coordinate an annual campaign for new and renewing premium members.
  19. Provide effective research, analysis and description for key issues and communicate this information as directed.
  20. Lead on janitorial needs/duties.
  21. Support special projects as requested.
  22. Overtime and working on weekends is sometimes required.
  23. Anything else assigned by the ED.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

  1. Prefer B.S. or B.A. Degree.
  2. Prefer minimum three (3) years experience in a similar position.
  3. Excellent research skills with ability to develop both sides of an issue.
  4. Excellent analytical skills.
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  6. Multi-task orientated.
  7. Good follow through and follow-up skills.
  8. Demonstrated ability to work well with, and under the direction of volunteers.
  9. Demonstrated ability to make presentations, write reports and letters.
  10. Good understanding of the agricultural industry.
  11. Proficient in use of computer and software.
  12. California driver’s license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires someone who is mobile, able to drive to various locations to attend meetings, hearings, conferences; who can research information in written form or on the internet; and communicate in person, by phone or by email. This individual must be able to sit for long periods and be able to move around on all types of surfaces (i.e. asphalt, fields, embankments, and stairs). This position may require work during off-normal work hours (early mornings, evenings, overnight, weekends, etc.) Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

YCFB offers a competitive salary and benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision and retirement. Salary is negotiable and will be dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
